Dan Felix, the Executive's Attorney, made a very good presentation regarding employment law. Much of this was devoted to what you should do as you are completing the HR employment forms (read contracts) once you accept a position.

This can be summed up in two words: read & ask. We will be bound by what we sign at the beginning of employment. Although, you are eager to get started stop and remember that Illinois is a "hire/fire at will" state. Labor laws favor the employer. As such, you need to read and ask questions prior to signing off on any perfunctory papers. Dan made this come alive by role playing with the audience. He ask them to sign-off on a contract (attached) prior to his presentation. Unusual you say, yes, just the point. You need to read and ask questions prior to becoming involved with a new employer.
